So a Hobo Skirt is so called because you gather up any and all bits of fabric you have stashed away and lying around, sew them all together to form one piece of fabric, apply your favorite skirt pattern and away you go.

Now this is not an easy project to do with young children, so taking inspiration from this “no sew tutu”  from www.skiptomylou.org , we put the two together and came up with these “no sew hobo skirts”.

The girls had a great time cutting the material into strips then spent a very concentrated hour and a half tying the fabric around the elastic,

and when that was all done, they had even more fun running around the garden, jumping on the trampoline and spinning in circles.

After finishing the Hexagon blanket, i was looking on the internet for a new project and stumbled upon a society of knitting, crocheting, sewing Tardis blanket makers.  SUCH FUN!!!

so i sat down and drew up a pattern, bought dome Tardis blue wool and started casting on, came to 320 something stitches. The fun part will be the writing on the sign.  I’ll keep you posted.

I saw on Pintrest people had made photo tile coasters.  So my sister and i thought that would be a nice present for our mothers birthday.  Our parents moved from New Zealand to Australia a couple of years ago so we came up with the idea of printing facts about Kiwi Birds onto the back and getting pictures of the kids that resemble the facts.

Henry’s Blanket

Finally finished my friends baby blanket for her son.  Its based on the mitered square pattern, where you start with all the stitches (312 in my case) and then you decrease every 2 rows to make the corners.  It took a long time, and was a lot of fun to make!
